El Vínculo
The project of Alejandro Fernández in La Mancha.
Bodega El Vínculo was founded in 1999 by the late Alejandro Fernández, creator of the legendary
Tinto Pesquera from DO Ribera del Duero. Located in the village of Campo de Criptana, the land of Don
Quijote, the name of the winery – 'vínculo' means 'bond' and 'link' – indicates the close relationship
between the two halves of the historical region of Castile: old Castile – Fernández's birthplace – and new
Castile, immortalized in the adventures of the ingenous gentleman from La Mancha.
Grown at 650 to 750 metres of altitude, in an area with clay and sandy soils, the vineyards of Bodega El
Vínculo cover a surface area around 50 hectares, mainly planted with Tempranillo vines 50 years old on
average. The El Vínculo winery also cultivates the white variety Airén, indigenous to the La Mancha
region. The varietal wine Alejairén was the first white wine made by the group.
The wines of Bodega El Vínculo are typically vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged in French and
American oak barrels. The company is currently a branch of Grupo Familia Fernández Rivera, which
also owns the Tinto Pesquera, Dehesa La Granja and Condado de Haza labels. The collective brand was
created by three of Alejandro Fernández’s daughters after contesting their father’s will, which in 2021
named Eva Fernández, the fourth and youngest sister, his sole heir. Eva Fernández later started her own
wine project under the name Tinto Pesquera Original.
