Joan Grill

A family project with deep roots in Alt Penedès.

Owned by the Pons family, bodega Joan Grill is located in Pla de Manlleu, one of the highest areas in DO Penedès, identified with the emblem Zona +500.

The headquarters of Joan Grill winery are in the Can Cendra estate, built in 1931. Until 1980, the family produced bulk wine for local consumption; from that moment on, they sold their entire production to Penedès wineries.

In 2006, oenologist Xavier Pons and his brother Sergi Pons, the next generation of the family, resumed wine production in the Can Cendra estate. In 2023, the first wines under the brand name Celler Joan Grill winery were made in the Viver de Cellers, a start-up facility located in Vilafranca del Penedés

Bodega Joan Grill currently has 30 hectares of certified organic vineyards planted mostly with Montònega (high-altitude Parellada) and Chardonnay. The wine portfolio is comprised of two unoaked white wines aged on lees: El Jornal and El Tiet.
