The goal of this small winery is to restore the prestige of the Albariño wines from Soutomaior.
The personal project of Noelia and Simón, a young couple of winemakers, bodega Noelia Bebelia produces artisan Albariño wines in the area of Soutomaior, a subzone of DO Rías Baixas which enjoyed a great reputation in the past. The winery owns 3 hectares of south-oriented vineyards situated on the slopes of the Verdugo river and planted with roughly 6,000 Albariño vines. Besides, the winery also produces a small batch red wine from the local varieties Brancellao, Caíño and Sousón.
This young small winery from Galicia is dedicated to the production of terroir-bound, expressive wines true to its origin. From its very inception, the project was advised by oenologist Jesús Pita Sors, one of the foremost experts on growing Albariño grapes, who helped build the project on solid foundations.
The vineyards of bodega Noelia Bebelia are farmed following sustainable procedures and minimal intervention techniques. The winery uses only estate-grown grapes, which are hand-harvested, meticulously selected and vinified with the utmost care. Nothing is rushed, since Noelia and Simón are well aware that patience is a key ingredient for producing high-quality wines.
The vinification of the wines from bodega Noelia Bebelia is traditional and meticulous, using stainless steel tanks and 500-litre oak barrels.
Within a short period of time, the wines from Rías Baixas produced by this young couple of indie vignerons, as they like to call themselves, have achieved both critical and popular acclaim because of its elegance and authenticity.
