Secastilla

Secastilla

Single parcel wines from Somontano with a distinctive personality.

A brand of Viñas del Vero, bodega Secastilla is located in the Secastilla valley, an area located at 700 metres of altitude in the north-eastern edge of DO Somontano. An unspoiled natural environment with rocky soils and a Mediterranean microclimate, the region has ideal conditions for producing terroir- oriented wines. Not by chance, the winery is a member of the association of quality wine producers Grandes Pagos de España.

Contrary to what is common in the Somontano area, bodega Secastilla grows almost exclusively native varieties; namely, Grenache, Moristel, Parraleta and White Grenache. As far as international varieties are concerned, there is only Syrah, a grape which is particularly well suited to the growing conditions of the area.

Hand-harvested and meticulously selected, the grapes are macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks in the facilities of bodega Secastilla. After that, the wines are aged in French oak barrels for variable amounts of time. As a general rule, oak is used with restraint in order not to impart too much wooden flavours to the wine.

Elegant and characteristic, the wines from bodega Secastilla have been recognized with numerous national and international awards.
