Shaya

The project of Gil Family Estates in DO Rueda.
A branch of Gil Family Estates, Bodegas y Viñedos Shaya was created in 2008 in DO Rueda with the aim of producing different expressions of the Verdejo variety, one of Spain’s most popular native white grapes.
The estate vineyards of Shaya winery are situated in the province of Segovia, in the heart of the Meseta Central (the great interior plateau of the Iberian Peninsula), up to 900 metres above sea level. They are planted with low-yielding vines, the oldest of which are over 120 years old and predate the phylloxera plague. Soils are composed of sand and clay.
Composed exclusively of varietal white wines made from Verdejo, the white wines of Shaya winery explores the different sides of a grape that is beloved by wine drinkers all over the world. The top-of-the-range is Shaya Habis, an outstanding varietal wine made from pre-phylloxeric vineyards fermented and aged in French oak barrels.
