Unzu

The personal project of Julián Chivite.
The scion of a prestigious wine family from Navarra, whose origins date from the XVIIth century, eleven generations back, Mr. Julián Chivite López is an important figure in the modern history of Spanish wine.
After working for more than five decades at the winery Chivite that bears his family name, most of them as CEO, Mr. Julián Chivite López decided to leave the company to start his personal project, Bodegas Unzu. The 2023 vintage was its debut release.
The vineyards of Unzu winery are located in the Carratudela, Molengo and Los Portillos lieux-dits, an area with clay-limestone soils and Atlantic-Continental climate near the village of Cientruénigo, in the norther Spanish region of Navarra.
The portfolio of Bodegas Unzu is currently comprised of two wines: Unzu Rosé, a Provence-style rosé made from Grenache grapes, and Unzu Blanco, a varietal Chardonnay aged on lees. It is worth poiting out that the winemaking techniques and overall oeneological methodology are supervised by the prestigious Valerie Lavigne, PhD in oenology and head of research at the Bordeaux Institute of Wine and Vine Science.
