Vins del Tros

Founded in 2009 by Josep Arrufat, bodega Vins del Tros is situated in the village of Vilalba dels Arcs, DO Terra Alta. An artisan winery crafting small-batch and terroir-oriented wines, bodega Vins del Tros is currently one of the most interesting projects in the region.

The vineyards of the Vins del Tros winery have a surface area of 11 hectares, divided into 4 plots: La Cirera, La Bassa, La Valleta and La Novena. Located between 400 and 480 metres of altitude and tended following the guidelines of organic agriculture with a biodynamic orientation, the vineyards have different types of soils, most notably panal, a soil made of fossilized dunes that is characteristic of the DO Terra Alta.

All of the wines by bodega Vins del Tros are varietal wines made from the traditional varieties of the area; namely, Grenache, White Grenache, Carignan and Morenillo, an indigenous grape from Terra Alta in the process of being recovered for wine production. The winery combines the use of conventional materials, like oak barrels, with ancestral winemaking techniques, such as vinification in clay amphorae.

Two wines nicely showcase the house style of the Vins del Tros winery: the red wine Señora Carmen, a varietal Grenache chosen "Best Wine" by the Guia de Vins de Catalunya in 2019, and Lo Morenillo, one of the very few varietal Morenillo wines currently available on the market.
