Details
The mid-range product of bodega Abadía de Poblet, the wine Abadía de Poblet Negre is made principally from Trepat, a red grape indigenous to the southern Catalan region of Conca de Barberà. The main variety is complemented with an equal blend of Grenache, Garrut (local for Monastrell) and Ull de Llebre (aka Tempranillo).
The Trepat grapes were sourced from old, low-yielding vines grown in poor soils at 600 metres of altitude; the Garrut comes from 20-year-old vineyards with slate and sandy soils located near the Monastery of Poblet; finally, the Grenache and Ull de Llebre grapes come from vineyards composed of clay and slate soils and located on the Prades mountain range, at 700 metres of altitude.

This blended Spanish red wine was traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After finishing fermentation, the wine Abadía de Poblet Negre 2019 was aged for 12 months in oak vats and concrete diposits.

Appearance

The red wine Abadía de Poblet Negre is deep ruby with some reddish reflections. 

Nose

This blend of Trepat, Garrut, Grenache and Ull de Llebre suggests aromas of underbrush, rose petals and wild berries, with some subtle earthy and spicy notes. Quite elegant.

Palate

Easy to drink, nuanced and very fresh, this wine from bodega Abadia de Poblet has slim tannins, a lively acidity and good balance, Medium-long finish with a herbal and floral aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

Versatile and tasty, the wine Abadía de Poblet Negre 2019 is a very nice Mediterranean wine.
