Red Wine Atteca Armas 2021
Availability: In stock
The impressive wine Atteca Armas aims to convey the ultimate expression of the harsh, rugged terroir of the northern Spanish region of Calatayud, located in the province of Aragón.
A varietal Grenache, this Spanish red wine is sourced from vineyards located between 750 and 1,000 metres of altitude. Most of the vines are over 100 years of age. Soils are composed of slate, a feature that brings a distinctive complexity to this Grenache from Aragón.
Moreover, the plants have managed to withstand an unmerciful climate, with extremely cold winters and excruciatingly hot summers.
Produced by Bodega Ateca, a branch of Gil Family Estates, the wine was vinified with the utmost care. After completing alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks, the wine Atteca Armas 2021 was transferred into new French oak barrels, where this vegan wine completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 18 months.
Properly stored, this Crianza red wine should have a long life in the bottle.
However, if you prefer to enjoy it right now we suggest that you decant this red wine from Calatayud for a minimum of 1 hour before you drink it.
Appearance | The red wine Atteca Armas is deep purple with a violet rim. |

Nose | Impressively deep and complex, this very old-vines Grenache carries a panoply of red and black fruit, underpinned by profound, ever-changing mineral notes, nuances of garrigue and aromatic herbs, some spicy notions, and remembrances of flowers, black truffles, lavender, liquorice and cocoa. |
Palate | This red wine from Bodega Ateca is terroir-driven and opulent, with the purest suggestions of red fruit, enlivened by all sorts of mineral, balsamic, earthy, smokey and floral remembrances. Crisp acidity, mighty tannins and extremely long finish. That being said, one must bear in mind that the wine is only in its chilhood. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Atteca Armas 2021 is an ode to Grenache and an homage to a harsh terroir that creates amazing wines. |
