Product Description

A varietal Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Avelino Vegas Áureo is produced by Bodegas Avelino Vegas from vineyards 50 years old on average.

Hand-harvested at their optimal ripening time, the grapes were first refrigerated on arriving in the cellar. Then this Spanish red wine was cold-soaked for 5 days and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

Afterwards one third of Avelino Vegas Áureo 2016 remained in the tanks, one third was transferred into French oak barrels and the other third went into egg-shaped concrete diposits. All three portions went through malolactic fermentation, after which this Crianza red wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels and concrete diposits.

Pair this red wine from Ribera del Duero with hearty game dishes.

Aerate some time before drinking.

A textbook Tempranillo nose, suggesting aromas of blueberries and bilberries, with some spicy notes and remembrances of dry earth, pine needles and tree bark.

This wine from Bodegas Avelino Vegas is bold, smooth and textured. Ripe black fruit with some balsamic remembrances and a spicy note. Lively tannins, crisp acidity and a long, toasted finish.

fine Ribera
Powerful, deep and balsamic - pine needles, balsam and dry earth. Very Ribera indeed.
