Produced by bodega Beronia, this Spanish red wine comes from vines with clay-limestone soils grown following environmentally friendly techniques. The vineyards are located in Ollauri, in the heart of La Rioja Alta.
Harvested by hand on site and in the cellar, the grapes were slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After that, Beronia Mazuelo Reserva 2016 was aged for 27 months in French and American oak barrels. Finally, it was aged for 14 months in the bottle before hitting the market.
We suggest that you decant this reserva red wine from La Rioja 1 hour before drinking.
Pair with cured cheese and roast recipes.
The wine Beronia Mazuelo Reserva is bright cherry red with a ruby rim.
Characterful and nuanced, this varietal Mazuelo suggests uncommon aromas of quince jelly and bitter cocoa, with lively red fruit, ground coffee, spices and bitter herbs.
Surprisingly fresh given the long barrel ageing, this wine of bodega Beronia is yummy and meaty, with a crisp acidity and gentle tannins. Round, long finish with some tobacco, leather and earthy overtones.
