Details

This is the new vintage of Cachito Mío, a red wine from Toro with an original character.

Thus, instead of searching the traditionally muscular, powerful personality of the Toro wines, this wine from the Casa Maguila winery was conceived with the aim of achieving drinkability and subtlety.

As is common practice in the region, this Spanish red wine is a varietal Tinta de Toro, in this case produced from over 50-year-old vines.

Harvested by hand and selected twice, the grapes were destemmed and fermented uncrushed. After that, they were gently pressed and the wine was transferred into 80% American and 20% French oak barrels, where it was aged for 8 months.

Finally, Cachito Mío 2016 was bottled and aged for a further months in the cellar.

Appearance

The red wine Cachito Mío has a nice cherry colour with a violet rim.

Nose

Fresh and intense, this varietal Tinta de Toro carries loads of red and black fruit, nuanced by some wooden notes, aromas of liquorice, Havanna cigars and a background of violets and balsam.

Palate

Remarkably smooth, and certainly lighter than most of the Toro wines we have drunk. Mineral notes, a dash and liquorice, along with lively touches of spices, wild berries and balsam. This wine from Casa Maguila has a good acidity, some mild tannins and a medium-long finish with some floral remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Expressive, savoury and gentle. In other words, Cachito Mío 2016.

OAK IS WELL BALANCED HERE, DOES NOT GIVE TOO MUCH VANILLA FLAVOUR, WHICH I HATE. THIS RED DRINKS NICE AND EASY.
