Product Description
Details

Simply put, the wine Camí Pesseroles is one of the best, most radical wines produced in Priorat.

This blended Spanish red wine is meticulously crafted by Sara Pérez and his father Josep Lluis Pérez, members of one the most respected wine families of the Priorat region.

An uncompromisingly terroir-oriented Crianza red wine, it is produced from three small vineyards loated on the old road - Camí Pesseroles - from Gratallops to Porrera, the spiritual core of the region.

It is made principally from Carignan vines planted between 1930 and 1940, complemented with Grenache grapes sourced from a neighbouring vineyard around 35 years of age. Both varieties grow in soils made of decomposed slate and clay.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were separately pre-macerated and then fermented together in wood barrels. After that, the red wine Camí Pesseroles 2021 of Mas Martinet Viticultors was aged for around 15 months in chestnut barrels and demijohns.

Finally, this organic red wine was aged for a further months in the bottle before its commercial release.

Decant a minimum of 2 hours before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Camí Pesseroles is medium ruby with a violet rim.

Nose

Amazingly nuanced and complex, this blend of Grenache and Carignan begins with some notes of raspeberries, figs, mulberries and kirsch, combined with remembrances of spices, cocoa powder, lavender, rose petals, carob beans, dry earth, leather and Mediterranean underbush over a deep, complex mineral background.

Palate

This wine from Mas Martinet Viticultors hids many niceties and subtleties that will need some time to unfurl. Mediterranean garrigue, deep mineral notions and first-rate fruit, with bold tannins and a spectacular acidity. The wine conveys a sense of place in a sort of immediate and unmistakable way. Very long, spellbinding finsh with an amazing mineral energy.

Our personal opinion

If you do like Priorat, try the red wine Camí Pesseroles 2021. There are very few wine regions in the world can elicit such deep emotions in the drinker.

Production of this wine has been veering towards a more "natural" approach lately. This is perfectly OK with me, because it is still a wonderful, expressive wine.

I think this is a world-class red wine. Here, the typical blend of Priorat reaches incredible depth, grace and concentration.
