Ekam 2023
This is the new vintage of the wine Ekam, a highly sophisticated Spanish white wine produced by Castell d’Encús, the personal project of master winemaker Raül Bobet on the foothills of Pyrenees.
This blended young white wine is made from 85% Riesling and 15% Albariño grown at altitudes between 850 and 1,000 metres above sea level, in an area with an extremely demanding climate.
Produced in DO Costers del Segre, the grapes were manually harvested. To add some complexity to the wine, some of them were harvested after they had developed the "noble rot" fungus (Botrytis Cinerea).
After that, the white wine Ekam 2023 was fermented in 15 and 25 hl. vats at a low temperature.
This blended white wine from Costers del Segre should improve considerably after some time in the bottle.

| Nose | The richness and intrincacy of this blend of Riesling and Albariño is, already at this early stage, quite remarkable. There are some mineral and earthy nuances, as well as hints of citrus, bone fruit, the hydrocarbon notes typical of Riesling, and fragrant aromas of orange blossom and tangerine. |
| Palate | This wine of the Castell d'Encús winery is vibrant and fresh, combining the citrus notes with remembrances of flowers, mineral, aromatic herbs and nuances of honey and royal jelly. Rich and crisp, with a long, complex finish. |
| Our personal opinion | The white wine Ekam 2023 is a very interesting high-altitude wine from Costers del Segre, crafted by one of Spain's most knowledgeable winemakers. |
