Details

Produced by Vall Llach, a household name in DOQ Priorat, Embruix de Vall Llach is the entry-level Spanish red wine of the winery.

This red wine is made from a blend of 28% Merlot, the main variety, 27% Grenache, 21% Carignan, 12% Syrah and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The grapes come from young vines planted on mild and steep slopes, composed of the llicorella (slate) soils typical of the region.

Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, with gentle pump-overs and punch-downs, and lasted 17 days. After that, this red wine from Priorat was macerated for 12 days and underwent malolactic fermentation in the tanks.

Finally, Embruix de Vall Llach 2021 was aged for 8 months in 3rd and 4th year French oak barrels of different sizes. In doing that, the winery seems to have embraced the current trend for leaner wines with less oak influence.

Decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.

The red wine Embruix de Vall Llach is deep ruby with a violet rim.

Nose

Deep and intense, this blend of Merlot, Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon carries some juicy aromas of raspberries and blackberries, with hints of liquorice, graphite, spices and aromatic herbs over a dark mineral background.

Palate

While showcasing its typical Priorat character, this wine from Celler Vall-Llach is fresher and livelier than ever before, with an enticing minerality, good focus, smooth tannins and a superb acidity. Black fruit, mineral, garrigue, spices and cocoa. Long finish reminiscent of balsam, toast and liquorice.

They have begun to reduce the oak impact, and that has been good for the wine. Now it feels more expansive and less suffocated, with plenty of room for expressing its delightfully mineral side.

Wanna know Priorat? Solve the equation. Power + slate soil remembrances + an intense nose + long finish = Embruix.
