Product Description
Details

Made from a little-known indigenous grape called Prieto Picudo, this Spanish red wine is produced in the northern Spanish region of Castilla y León.

Made from vineyards up to 20 years of age, Estay Prieto Picudo is produced by Dominio DosTares.

The harvest took place in October. Once in the cellar, the grapes were selected, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with 3 daily pump-overs. Then this Crianza red wine was aged for 4 months in new American and French oak barrels. It was racked 3 times during the process.

Finally, Estay Prieto Picudo 2020 was gently filtered and aged for a further 6 months in the cellar before its release.

Pair this varietal red wine from Castilla y León with BBQ'd meat and braised vegetables.

Appearance

The red wine Estay Prieto Picudo is medium purple with a garnet rim.

Nose

This varietal Prieto Picudo is very lively. Exuberant notes of red and black fruit, aromas of violets, and some lactic and spicy touches over a liquorice background.

Palate

Fresh, crisp and zippy, this wine by Dominio DosTares is reminiscent of stawberry candies, toast, aromatic herbs and liquorice. Lively acidity, round tannins and long finish.

Our personal opinion

A terrific value, Estay Prieto Picudo 2020 shows the remarkable personality of the Prieto Picudo grape. Pair with stews and meat recipes.
