Red Wine Finca Villacreces Pruno 2020

This well-known Spanish red wine is sorted from vines planted in sandy loam soils at an altitude of 710 metres, near the town of Quintanilla de Onésimo, in the heart of Ribera del Duero.
Picked by hand during the 2nd and 3rd week of October, the grapes went through two selection processes. Destemmed but not crushed, they were subsequently put into stainless steel tanks to complete alcoholic and malolactic fermentation.
After that, Pruno 2020 was transferred into 2nd and 3rd French oak barrels (Darnajou and Taransaud), were it was aged for 12 months. Finally, it was clarified with egg whites and bottled.
A remarkable value, it is worth remembering that Robert Parker repeatedly placed this red wine from Ribera del Duero among the absolute best Spanish wines under 20$.
The red wine Pruno is deep ruby with a garnet rim.
This blend of Tinto Fino and Cabernet Sauvignon is very attractive. Mulberries and blackberries, with hints of toffee, dry earth, balsam, fine leather and liquorice.
Smooth and characterful, this wine of Finca Villacreces has some ripe tannins and a crisp acidity. Berryish and gently mineral, with a long finish with notes of cedar, tobacco and ground coffee.

A formidable value, Pruno 2020 will certainly improve in the bottle.
