Product Description
Details

The entry-level Spanish red wine of Bodega VetusFlor de Vetus is made from 20-year-old estate vineyards with sandy-limestone soils located at an altitude of 700 metres, in the heart of DO Toro.

A varietal Tinta de Toro, once in the cellar the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed and cold-macerated. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks.

Finally, Flor de Vetus 2019 was aged in 1st and 2nd year, 50/50 American and French oak barrels for over a period of 9 months.

Since this red wine from Toro may present some sediment, because it was neither clarified nor stabilized, we suggest that you aerate it 30 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Flor de Vetus is medium ruby with a violet rim.

Nose

Prominent notes of bilberries and mulberries, a primary feature of Tinta de Toro, evolving into aromas of balsam, vegetables, aromatic herbs and dim wooden notes.

Palate

This wine from Bodegas Vetus is gentle and fruity. Notes of black plums, blackberries, menthol and some lactic touches. Chewy tannins, tense acidity and a long, fruity finish.

Our personal opinion

The excellently priced Flor de Vetus 2019 is a modern Toro. Powerful, but also fresh and easy to drink.
