Details
We are happy to present Gran Caus El Rocallís from bodega Can Ràfols dels Caus. This is an exceedingly original Spanish white wine for several reasons.
The wine is made solely from Incrocio Manzoni. Developed by Prof. Luigi Manzoni in the 1930s, the variety is a cross between Riesling and Pinot Blanc.
Furthermore, it is made from vines around 30 years old grown in the Garraf Massif, a very special subzone of DO Penedés with limestone-rich soils peppered with marine fossils. Those soils lend the wine a distinctively mineral character.
Hand harvested, the grapes were destemmed, macerated and fermented in French oak barrels. After that, they were aged for 6 months. Then Gran Caus El Rocallís 2022 was bottled and aged for a minimum of 24 months before hitting the market.
Its unique aromatic personality puts this Penedès white wine in a category of its own.
This is a very versatile Crianza white wine. Drink without food, or pair with white meat, oily fish recipes and semi-hard cheeses.
