Details

The Viñas del Jaro winery from Ribera del Duero presents the 2018 vintage of Jaros, its best-known Spanish red wine, in a Magnum format.

A varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), the grapes are sourced from a single vineyard, Finca El Quiñón.

Traditionally vinified, the grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and macerated with the skins. Then this Crianza red wine produced by the Compañía de Viñedos Iberian was aged in new and 2nd year French oak barrels for 18 months.

After that, Jaros 2018 Magnum was aged for a further months in the bottle before its release.

Decant this Ribera del Duero red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Jaros Magnum is medium violet with a purple rim.

Nose

This varietal Tempranillo suggests lively notes of bilberries and cranberries, intertwined with some spicy and herbal notions, and some toasted and mineral remembrances. Deep and expressive.

Palate

Elegant and savoury, this wine from Viñas del Jaro is reminiscent of ripe fruit, with some intense toasted and spicy notions, and remembrances of liquorice, dry earth and charcoal. Excellent acidity, ripe tannins a long, balsamic finish.

Our personal opinion

An excellent value from Ribera del Duero, Jaros 2018 Magnum is a wise buy. Excellent with stews and roasted meats.
