Whisky Kyrö Wood Smoke Malt Rye

The whisky Kyrö Wood Smoke Malt Rye is crafted by the young, but already prestigious and multi- award-winning Kyrö Distillery from Finland, which released the first ever Finnish rye whisky in 2020. As its founders like to say, this is a “whisky born in a sauna.”

This Finnish whisky is made from 100% malted Finnish whole-grain rye. Following an ancient local tradition, the malt first went through an alder-smoking process in a centenary barn. Then this rye whisky was double-pot distilled before being matured in French oak barrels, ex-Bourbon barrels and new American white oak barrels.

Old gold-coloured with some copperish reflections, the whisky Kyrö Wood Smoke Malt Rye carries rich, complex aromas of white pepper, caramel, meringue and vanilla, with notes of tar, spices and seaweed. On the palate, this whisky from Finland is mildly sweet and quite intense, suggesting ginger, manuka honey and rye bread, with a long aftertaste of toasted fennel and panela sugar.
