Details

Produced in DOQ Priorat, L’Exclamació is a very interesting Spanish red wine from the young bodega Clos 93.

Indeed, this red wine from Priorat is one of the very few varietal Syrah wines produced in Catalonia's most prestigious wine region.

Sourced from estate vineyards with llicorella (slate) soils at 250 metres of altitude, the grapes were hand-harvested and meticulously selected.

They were fermented whole bunch in stainless steel tanks, after which this Crianza red wine was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 16 months.

Finally, L'Exclamació 2021 was filtered before its bottling.

Aerate 40 minutes before drinking.

This is one of those almost-impossible-to-find wines. Only 840 bottles produced.

Appearance

The red wine L’Exclamació is deep ruby with a purplish rim.

Nose

This varietal Syrah brings to mind the Cornas reds from northern Rhône, but with a deeper and earthier twist. Aromas of blackberries, cassis and violets, with hints of spices and warm stones and a splash of coffee, cacao and black olives.

Palate

This wine from bodega Clos 93 is full-bodied and lush. Rich and ripe black fruit, with a tad of smoke and liquorice and some deep mineral undertones. There is a solid tannic frame, with the steely acidity which distinguishes Priorat red wines. Very long finish with some floral and spicy notes.

Our personal opinion

The lovers of Northern Rhône wines and South Australia Shiraz should definitely try L’Exclamació 2021. They will not be disappointed.

Priorat meets Hermitage
Value
Interesting Priorat in that it is a single varietal Syrah. Picture a bold, earthy Hermitage with a rugged demeanor and you'll get the idea.
