Availability: In stock
This is the new vintage of one of Ribeira Sacra's most sought-after Spanish red wines, Lalama by the Dominio do Bibei winery.Mencía, this Spanish red wine is complemented with a 10% of the indigenous varieties Brancellao, Mouratón, Sousón and Alicante Bouschet (Garnacha Tintorera), crafted from 15 to 100-year-old vines grown at an altitude up to 700 metres above sea level in soils of different compositions.
After the harvest, the grapes of this wine from Ribeira Sacra were selected and destemmed. After a brief maceration, the wine was fermented in trunk-conical tanks of different measures.
Malolactic fermentation took place in 300-litre French oak barrels, after which the wine was drawn off, transferred into a series of differently aged French oak barrels and aged for 13 months. After that, Lalama 2015 spent a further 10 months in 45-hectolitre trunk-conical tanks. Naturally stabilized, the wine was bottled and finally aged for a further 15 months in the cellar prior to its release.
We strongly suggest that you decant this red wine from Ribeira Sacra 1 hour before you drink it. It may contain sediment, as it was not filtered.
Drink now until 2025.
The red wine Lalama has a bright, intense cherry colour with a maroon rim.
Exquisite and expressive nose, full of juicy red fruit, wild berries, and some game and blood aromas, blue flowers, vegetals and some undergrowth hints. On the background, this red wine from Ribeira Sacra insinuates some touches of smoke and balsam.
Amazingly fresh, this red wine by Dominio do Bibei has a medium body, an exceptional acidity and well-integrated tannins. Notes of red berries, orange rind, wet earth, remembrances of pomegranate and blood orange, some mineral undertones and also a forest-like suggestion. This Mencía from Ribeira Sacra has a very long and linear, with remembrances of wild berries and undergrowth.
|Our personal opinion||
A truly remarkable value, Lalama 2015 is an Atlantic-style red wine that stands comparison with much more expensive wines from other parts of the world.
