Details

Crafted by Les Cousins Marc & Adrià, two members of the distinguished Pérez Family, Les Cousins Sagesse embodies the essence of world-famous Priorat.

This terroir-bound Spanish red wine is made from the two most representative grape varieties in the region, namely Grenache and Carignan.

The grapes come from both young and old vineyards planted in steep slate slopes. They were harvested by hand, after which this red wine from Priorat was vinified in stainless steel tanks.

After that, the Carignan was aged in new and used 225-litre French oak barrels, while the Grenache was aged in 400-litre French oak barrels. Both were aged for 16 months.

Finally, Les Cousins Sagesse 2019 was blended and bottled.

Decant this Crianza red wine a minimum of 40 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Les Cousins Sagesse is deep ruby with some bluish tinges.

Nose

The nose of this blend of Grenache and Carignan is enticing and mysterious. Remembrances of black fruit, toast and mineral, alongside aromas of aromatic herbs, balsam, liquorice, spices, coffee, and even a hint of lavender and chinese ink.

Palate

Fresh and bold, the palate of this red wine of Les Cousins Marc & Adrià shows a remarkable complexity, an excellent acidity, and a nice ageing potential. Mediterranean garrigue, undergrowth, black fruit, vanille, dark minerality, bitter chocolate and menthol. Long, wonderfully mineral finish.

Our personal opinion

A nicely crafted, classic Priorat, Les Cousins Sagesse 2019 will amaze and delight the many lovers of this magical wine region.

If you've been to Priorat, drinking Sagesse will bring you back there almost immediately. The dryness, the aromatic roadside herbs, the unique soil... All that, and much more, is inside this wine.

Great Priorat
Value
It is not easy to find a winery that waits up to 6 years to release a product. Marc and Adrià have done that, and the results are worth the wait. This Priorat is mature, smooth, immensely pleasurable and characterful. You taste the fruit, you feel the wonderful slate soil and you enjoy the freshness. 5 stars!!
