Red Wine Manga del Brujo 2020
Availability: In stock
Crafted by Scotsman Norrel Robertson, MW, Manga del Brujo from DO Calatayud is a blended Spanish red wine made basically from Grenache, sourced from old vineyards, along with 15% Syrah, coming from over 10-year-old vines, 10% Provechón (aka Bobal) from 25-year-old vines, and 5% Mazuela, also known as Carignan.
Manually harvested, the Grenache and Mazuela grapes were destemmed and fermented in tanks with frequent pump-overs. The Syrah grapes were destemmed and fermented uncrushed in tanks and in used and new French oak barrels. The Provechón was destemmed, crushed and fermented in oak barrels after a brief maceration.
After the completion of these processes, Manga del Brujo 2020 from El Escocés Volante was blended and aged for 5 months in barrels.
Finally, this red wine from Calatayud was aged for some months in the bottle before its commercial release.

Nose | This blend of Grenache, Syrah, Provechón and Mazuela exhibits intense notes of plums and blueberries, along with toasted notes and hints of spices, some earthy remembrances and aromas of cocoa and smoke. |
Palate | As with all of Mr. Robertson's wines, this red wine from El Escocés Volante is remarkably well crafted. Bold and powerful, though smooth and fresh, with loads of red fruit, exotic spices, hints of fine wood and a refreshingly mineral background. Crisp acidity, yummy tannins and long finish with some notes of red fruit. |
