The wine Massís de l'Albera Les Tortugues comes from the Serra de l’Albera, in the northernmost tip of DO Empordà, a rugged area on the Catalan-French border swept by the tramuntana, a strong northern wind that acts as a natural sanitizing agent for the vines.
This varietal Spanish white wine is made from Grey Grenache, the flagship variety of the region, sourced from sloped vineyards with slate soils planted on the foothills of the Albera mountain range.
Harvested just before peak maturation to preserve the acidity, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks under low temperature. After that, this white wine from Empordà went through a partial malolactic fermentation and was aged for 6 months sur lie with periodic stirrings.
Finally, the white wine Massís de l'Albera Les Tortugues 2024 was clarified, filtered and stabilized using no animal products. Once bottled, this young white wine was stored for 12 months in the cellar before hitting the market.
Appearance | The white wine Massís de l'Albera Les Tortugues is deep yellow with some golden reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | Aromas of raspberries and red cherries, intertwined with apricot preserve, butter yeasts and salted caramel, evolving into bitter herbs and slate. This varietal Grey Grenache is well-defined and decidedly original. |
Palate | Gently unctuous and richly layered, this wine of the Massís de l’Albera winery has a tapering acidity and an earthy note, with a bitter-ish edge to the bone fruit, ending with a salty and mildly tropical remembrance. |
Our personal opinion | A remarkable value, the wine Massís de l'Albera Les Tortugues 2024 is both complex and food- friendly. |
