Details

The wine Ostatu Selección is the calling card of bodega Ostatu from La Rioja. It was the first Spanish red wine aged in oak produced by the winery.

The grapes are sourced from two vineyards with clayey soils planted in 1955 at 600 metres of altitude.

Made from Tempranillo (92%) and Graciano (8%), after being destemmed and cold-macerated the grapes were fermented in a small oak vat with mild pump-overs. After that, a 70% of this red wine from La Rioja went through malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, and the rest completed the process in the vats.

Then the red wine Ostatu Selección 2018 was aged in new and 2nd year French oak barrels for 14 months.

Aerate this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.

18,600 bottles produced.

Nose

This blend of Tempranillo and Graciano carries loads of forest berries and red cherry frui, with some vanilla, cedar and cinnamon notes and a dash of Havanna cigars.

Palate

Creamy and structured, this red wine from Ostatu has a fresh mid-palate, with firm tannins and a lively acidity. Long finish with an earthy and balsamic note intertwined with a hint of blue flowers.

Our personal opinion

Deep and gently creamy, the wine Ostatu Selección 2018 will pair nicely with meat recipes.
