Details

Produced by Bodegas Trus, a brand of Bodegas Palacios Vinos de Finca, Trus Reserva comes from DO Ribera del Duero.

A varietal Spanish red wine made solely from Tempranillo, the grapes come from the oldest estate vineyards. They are composed of limestone soils and have very low levels of organic matter.

Hand-harvested and meticulously selected, once in the cellar the grape bunches were destemmed and crushed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then they were macerated at 30ºC. During those processes, pump-overs were performed daily. Before going through malolactic fermentation in the tanks, this red wine from Ribera del Duero was racked twice.

After that, Trus Reserva 2016 was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. It was gently filtered before being bottled, after which it was aged for a further 24 months before it hit the market.

This varietal reserva red wine should have a nice evolution in the bottle.

Pair with hearty dishes.

Decant at least 40 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Trus Reserva is medium purple with some reddish reflections.

Nose

Quite complex, this varietal Tempranillo has the edgy elegance typical of the limestone soils, with well-defined aromas of blueberries and black cherries entwined with some smokey and balsamic notes, evolving into tar, ground coffee and sweet spices.

Palate

This wine of Bodegas Trus is quite expressive, with delightfu chalky tannins, a tangy acidity and well seasoned black fruit. Lively and textured, with a tad of spice and some gentle wooden notes combined with a smokey and herbal note.

A wine with a good ageing potential, Trus Reserva 2016 is balanced and classy.
