Produced by bodega Pago de Vallegarcía, Vallegarcia Syrah comes from the tiny DO Pago de Vallegarcía, situated in Montes de Toledo.
A varietal Syrah, this Spanish red wine is sourced from 20-year-old vines oriented to the south and planted at 850 meters of altitude. The soils are poor and full of stones, with a silica surface. The region has a continental climate, with hot and dry summers and cold and humid winters.
This limited production Crianza red wine was crafted with the utmost care. First the grapes were harvested by hand and macerated for 72 hours in stainless steel tanks. After that, they were fermented for 21 days at a low temperature.
After that, Vallegarcía Syrah 2021 was transferred into French oak barrels, where it was aged 12 months. Finally, it was further aged for some months in the bottle.

One of the best Syrahs I've encountered in Spain, a country where that wondeful grape becomes an underachiever. This Vallegarcia, on the contrary, has a very nice bouquet of flowers, earth, forest floor and balsam. The palate has focus and a tart. Excellent.
