Product Description
Details

Produced by Teso La Monja in DO Toro, the wine Victorino is a varietal Spanish red wine made from Tinta de Toro vines 45 to 100 years of age grown in clayey soils with a sandy substratum.

It is crafted by the prestigious Eguren family, known for their excellent job at wineries such as Sierra Cantabria, Señorío de San Vicente and Viñedos de Páganos.

The grapes were picked by hand and meticulously selected. They were destemmed and gently crushed before fermenting with gentle pump-overs. Once fermentation was completed, this Crianza red wine was macerated for 21 days on lees.

After that, the red wine Victorino 2021 went through malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, where it was subsequently aged for 18 months. During the process, the wine was racked every 4 months.

Decant this red wine from Toro a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Nose

Very elegant, this Tinta de Toro has a deep mineral character. Terroir-oriented and intriguing, with bramble and bilberries, notes of flowers and Eastern spices, and some note of earth and underbrush.

Palate

This red wine of Teso la Monja is flavorful, detailed and quite elegant, with an incipent complexity that will unfurl over the next years. Succulent black fruit, a peacock's tail of seductive spices, an ever present minerality and a deep sense of terroir. Excellent acidity, with well integrated tannins and a persistent finish.

Our personal opinion

Serious, bold and age-worthy, the red wine Victorino 2021 is a feast for the senses. Hats off to the Eguren brothers!

Very good 2019 and 2020 years
Value
Both years are lush, velvety, smooth and full bodied. Of it's last price increase of about 5,00 I'm not so pleased, and makes it for me a rarity to reorder again!

Monumenthal but, for the time being, a bit monolithic. It begins to deliver after 4 o 5 hours inside the decanter, but even then it feels muted and compressed. A wine to store for years, undoubtedly.

Victorino

Now, this is a serious wine. Bold, but quite transparent, showing a direct link to the land. Lush, smooth blueberries, violets, spices and herbs. I think it will reach its peak in 4-5 years.
