Red Wine Viña Coqueta Reserva 2017
Availability: In stock
Produced by Remírez de Ganuza, the wine Viña Coqueta is made from mostly Tempranillo with a smattering of Graciano. The single vineyard wine is sourced from Finca La Coqueta, located in Samaniego, in the very heart of La Rioja Alavesa.
Harvested by hand and selected on site, once in the cellar the grape bunches were first refrigerated for 24 hours. Then the upper Tempranillo grapes were separated from the lower ones (which are used for crafting the carbonic maceration wine Erre Punto).
Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats. After that, this red wine from La Rioja was transferred into new and used French and American oak barrels, where it went through malolactic fermentation.
After completing the process, Viña Coqueta Reserva 2017 was aged for 24 months in the barrels.
Before being launched onto the market, this Reserva red wine was aged for several years in the bottle.
Decant at least 1 hour before drinking.
| Appearance | The red wine Viña Coqueta Reserva is medium purple with some ruby glints. |
|---|---|
| Nose | Lively aromas of cranberries and blackberries over a spicy, delicately sweet background, with some hints of smoke, leather, lavender, wet earth and a delicately floral touch. Excellent blend of Tempranillo and Graciano. |
| Palate | This wine of the Remírez de Ganuza winery is bold, dense and savoury, with chewy tannins, impressive freshness and remarkable balance between fruit and oak. The finish is long and pleasant, with an aftertaste of forest berries, liquorice, tobacco and tar. |
| Our personal opinion | Full-bodied and amazingly elegant, Viña Coqueta Reserva 2017 could be compared to a premium Northern Rhône red. |
