Ànima Negra

Ànima Negra

Within a few years, Ànima Negra has made a name for itself by producing some of the most characterful, authentic and elegant wines in the island of Mallorca.

Ànima Negra was founded in 1994, when three friends, Francesc Grimalt, Pere Obrador and Miquel Àngel Cerdà decided to produce a wine from native varieties in Felanitx, in the southwestern area of the island of Mallorca. Soon afterwards, they set up their headquarters in Son Bruguera, an stately manor from the XIIIth century.

The Ànima Negra winery was probably the first in Mallorca to produce fine wines exclusively from native varieties. A staunch believer in the potential of the long-forgotten local grape varieties, the winery has succeeded in proving that the wines from the biggest island of the Balearic archipelago have a character that, while being utterly Mediterranean, is also unique and distinctive.

The first vintage of Ànima Negra Viticultors was produced in the facilities of the old villa, which have been consistently upgraded until this very day. Besides the exquisite winemaking care, the success of the winery is due to its meticulous study of the soil and its appreciation of the native Majorcan varieties, such as the red ones Manto Negro, Fogoneu and Callet, as well as the white Premsal.
