Bosque de Matasnos

Bosque de Matasnos

Bosque de Matasnos crafts elegant wines from high-altitude vineyards in Ribera del Duero.

The Bosque de Matasnos winery benefits from the exceptional conditions of an estate located at 950 metres above sea level, in a plateau with sandy soils and great temperature differences between daytime and nighttime. The vineyards of bodega Bosque de Matasnos are interspersed with cereal crops and forests in an area of 80 hectares in total. Over 60 years of age, the grapevines-most of which are Tempranillo-are severely pruned in order to reduce yields and maximize quality.

Harvest usually takes in place in the second half of October. After a meticulous selection both on site and in the cellar, the resulting wines are typically aged in new American and French oak barrels. The red wines of Bosque de Matasnos are principally made from Tempranillo, ocasionally supplemented with Merlot, Grenache and Malbec. There is also a varietal Syrah wine. As for the white wines by Bosque de Matasnos winery, they are produced from an eclectic mixture of varieties; namely, Viognier, Verdejo and Chardonnay
