Zacapa 23 Solera Gran Reserva
The rum Zacapa 23 Solera Gran Reserva is one of the world's most renowned rums, having won first prize at the International Rum Tasting Contest five times in a row.
This Guatemalan rum of the Zacapa distillery was crafted from a blend of several rums which were obtained from the purest sugar cane juice, instead of the traditional molasses, and then aged from 6 to 23 years using the soleras system.
This Premium rum was aged in oak barrels previously used to age American whisky, Sherry and Pedro Ximénez. The process took place in one of the world's highest ageing plants, located in the Guatemalan highlands, at an altitude of 2,300 metres above sea level. Appropriately, the facility is known as 'The House in the Clouds.'
On the nose, this solera aged rum displays notes of honey and caramel, combined with aromas of coffee, cocoa, banana, vanilla and dry fruit. On the palate, the rum Zacapa 23 Solera Gran Reserva is sweet, savoury and smooth as silk, ending with a note of orchard fruit and white chocolate.
