Produced by Celler de les Aus, a side project of bodega Alta Alella, the wine Aus Merla is made solely from Mataró, the local name of Monastrell in DO Alella.
Located in the Serralada de Marina mountain range, the organically farmed vineyards sit at a distance of less than 2 kilometres from the Mediterranean sea, at altitudes from 150 to 300 metres. The soils are made of sauló, a kind of decomposed granite typical of the area.
Hand-harvested and meticulously selected, the grapes were macerated and fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts at a temperature of 25ºC. Then this low-sulfite wine was pressed and transferred into oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation.
Finally, the red wine Aus Merla 2022 was aged for 3 months in the barrels and bottled with no added sulfites.
In coherence with the commitment of Celler de les Aus to sustainability, this natural red wine from Alella comes in a reused Cava bottle.

| Palate | This wine from Celler de les Aus of bodega Alta Alella is fresh and very lively, with layers of black fruit framed by spices and aromatic herbs. Meaty and yummy, this low sulfur red wine has an excellent acidity, smooth tannins and a very long finish with an aftertaste of liquorice and wild berries. |
