Availability: In stock
The wine Balbas Ritus 940 is a high-altitude Spanish red wine that reaches new heights with each released vintage.
Produced by Bodegas Balbás, this red wine from Ribera del Duero is a blend of 75% Tempranillo and 25% Merlot, sourced from a single vineyard with poor sandy soils, Finca La Malata, perched at 940 metres above sea level. Those factors, together with the great temperature differences between daytime and nighttime, allow the grapes to develop an amazing concentration of aroma and flavour and exceptional levels of natural acidity.
The hand-picked grapes were fermented with native yeasts in small tanks and macerated for about 20 days. After that, the red wine Balbas Ritus 940 2020 was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 18 months.
Then this Reserva red wine was bottled and aged for 12 months before being released onto the market.

Nose | This blend of Tempranillo and Merlot is gently mineral and endearingly spicy, with a solid core of sour forest fruit and red berries wrapped in vanilla, toast and cocoa, underpinned by a floral and vegetal note. |
Palate | Expressive and well-defined, this wine of Bodegas Balbás winery has some plush tannins, a steely acidity that carries its weight effortlessly and an intricate texture. It has a very long and expansive finish, with some balsamic, earthy and spicy notes. |
