The young wine El Castro de Valtuille Mencía Joven is an honest expression of the Mencía grape, the flagship indigenous variety from El Bierzo.
This varietal Spanish red wine is produced by Bodega Castro Ventosa, & Raúl Pérez's family winery, from differently aged vineyards located in the town of Valtuille de Abajjo.
The grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks; subsequently, only a part of the wine was aged in French wooden vats for about 3 months.
Following this minimal intervention approach, the red wine El Castro de Valtuille Mencía Joven 2025 was neither filtered nor clarified before bottling.
