Product Description
Details

Coming from DO Montsant, the new vintage of Furvus is basically a varietal Hairy Grenache wine with a dollop of Merlot (5%).

Produced by Celler Vinyes Domènech, the grapes are sourced from a 15-hectare estate of certified organic and biodynamically farmed vines with clay and limestone soils.

After a meticulous selection of the grapes, this Spanish red wine was fermented for a period of 12 days under controlled temperature.

After that, Furvus 2021 was aged for 14 months in 1st and 2nd year American and French oak barrels.

We suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.

Pair this Montsant red wine with roast recipes and BBQ'd meat.

Appearance

The red wine Furvus is medium purple with a violet rim.

Nose

Original and evocative, this wine from Hairy Grenache and Merlot begins with an enchantingly Mediterranean note of rosemary and tarragon, evolving into wild berries, spices and mineral suggestions. There is plenty to enjoy here.

Palate

Substantial, but not overblown, this wine of Celler Vinyes Domènech carries some delicious flavours of red fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, roasted coffee, balsam and some mineral remembrances. The crisp acidity tightens up the smooth texture. Finish is long, with excellent fruit and an earthy note.

Our personal opinion

The best vintage to date, Furvus 2021 combines intensity and complexity.

1st class Montsant red which won't break the bank. Perfectly adjusted, round and fresh, compelling.

As smooth as it gets. Garnacha Peluda & Merlot are a likely blend, but they complement each other in a marvelous way. Silky palate, crunchy fruit, tannins like velvet and an intringuing mineral quality.
