Details

Produced by Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca, the 2019 vintage of Losada is virtually a varietal Mencía (99%), with a droplet of other white varieties.

The 40 to 80-year-old vines were harvested by hand, carefully selected, destemmed and gently crushed. Then this Spanish red wine from El Bierzo was vinified in stainless steel tanks.

After the completion of malolactic fermentation, this red wine from El Bierzo was aged for 12 months in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year French oak barrels.

Finally, Losada 2020 was clarified with vegetable gelatin and bottled unfiltered.

Pair this red wine from El Bierzo with BBQ'd meat and cold meats.

Appearance

The red wine Losada is medium ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose

Fresh notes of ripe black fruit define this varietal Mencía. Pleasantly rugged, with hints of spices and toast, aromas of blue flowers, and some delicate lactic touches.

Palate

Lively notes of bramble and damson, that slowly evolve into notions of toast, smoked meat, orange rind and dry earth. This red wine from Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca has a zesty acidity, crunchy tannins, and a long finish with some toasted remembrances.

Our personal opinion

The red wine Losada 2020 is a stupendous value.

Crunchy, yummy Mencía. I smell fresh blood oranges, cranberries and earth. A great wine with meat recipes.
