Malpuesto 2022
An exquisite blend of mostly Tempranillo with Graciano, Viura and Malvasía, the wine Malpuesto is produced from a single vineyard planted in 1931 at an altitude of 520 metres above sea level. Grown in poor, sandy soils, the vines have very low yields.
Harvest was carried out by hand in little, 15-kg. boxes to prevent grape bruising. Once in the cellar, the grape bunches were destemmed, left uncrushed, and subsequently macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Afterwards, this Spanish red wine of Bodegas Orben winery was transferred into new French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation with periodic punch-downs and pump-overs.
Finally, the red wine Malpuesto 2022 was aged in French oak barrels and clay jars.
This Crianza red wine from La Rioja was neither clarified nor filtered prior to bottling in July 2024, so it may contain some sediment.
It is advisable to decant this red wine from La Rioja 1 hour before drinking.

Pristine hints of blackcurrants, graphite, lavender and violets, alongisde remembrances of earth and turf, notions of aromatic herbs and underbrush over a toasted and spicy background. Long, complex finish with a balsamic and earthy tang. |
