Red Wine Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva 2017
Availability: In stock
The iconic red wine Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva is produced by the Marqués de Riscal winery from estate-grown grapes and from grapes bought to local La Rioja winegrowers. All come from Tempranillo vineyards over 80 years of age.
One of the most prestigious Spanish red wines from La Rioja, the 2017 vintage was severely impacted by an April frost which damaged the vines and significantly reduced the yields.
Harvest began in mid September. Hand-picked and exactingly selected, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks. After that, the best barrel samples of this Rioja red wine were blended and aged in French oak barrels for 26 months.
Finally, the red wine Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva 2017 was kept for several years in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
This varietal Gran Reserva red wine embodies like few others the very essence of La Rioja, one of the world's great wine regions.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.
The red wine Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva is medium ruby with a garnet rim.
Rich and detailed, this varietal Tempranillo exudes old Rioja nobility. Aromas of old wood, fine leather, undergrowth, Eastern spices, black fruit, toast, black truffles and vegetables.
This wine of the Marqués de Riscal winery is intricate and layered, with a crisp acidity and an impeccable definition. Fruit and spices harmonize with a mineral and balsamic background. Long toasted finish. This is Rioja classicism at its best.
