First produced in 2013 by the Nikka distillery, the whisky Nikka Coffey Malt is an uncommon Japanese whisky made from malted barley that subsequently passed through traditional, double-colunmn Coffey stills, typically used to distill grain whisky. (Interestingly, the original formula contained some distillates imported from Ben Nevis which were distilled again in Japan.) After that, this Single Malt Whisky matured for some years in old casks.
Amber-yellow coloured with some golden reflections, on the nose the whisky Nikka Coffey Malt is intense and quite exotic, carrying aromas of ginger bread, ripe banana, cinnamon, salted caramel and cocoa powder. On the palate, this Japanese whisky of the Nikka distillery is smooth, fresh and flavourful, with a long finish reminiscent of citrus, spices and tropical fruit.
