Product Description
Details

Produced by Celler Mas de las Pereres, owned by Dirk Hoet, Nuncito is the entry-level Spanish red wine of this winery from DOQ Priorat.

Mr. Hoet, together with winemaker Jean Natoli, crafted this red wine from Priorat from a blend of Grenache, Mazuela (o Carignan) and Syrah.

The grapes are sourced from vineyards with llicorella (slate) soils situated near Poboleda, meticulously farmed following non-invasive techniques.

Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, the grapes were slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. Once the process was completed, they were macerated for some weeks.

Then this wine was transferred into 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels. After that, Nuncito 2014 was aged for 12 months.

After being bottled, this Crianza red wine was kept for no less than 5 years in the cellar before hitting the market.

Decant some time before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Nuncito is deep ruby with a violet hue.

Nose

This blend of Grenache, Mazuela (Carignan) and Syrah is subtle, elegant and round. Ripe black fruit with a pinch of liquorice and Kirsch, with spices and a mineral note.

Palate

The years have smoothened out the rough edges of this wine from Celler Mas de les Pereres. Creamy notes of ground coffee and herbs, with lively wild berries, an earthy note and a gently spicy finish.

Our personal opinion

The red wine Nuncito 2014 is a smooooth Priorat.
