This elegant Spanish red wine wine is produced by bodega Castillo de Perelada, the first winery in Europe awarded with the LEED® Gold sustainability certification, granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
It is made from grapes sourced from Finca Malaveïna, a scenic vineyard with red clayey soils which has stunning views of the eastern Pyrenees and the Mediterranean sea.
The 2020 vintage of this single parcel red wine from L'Empordà is a Bordeaux blend composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Harvested by hand and meticulously selected, the grapes were cold-macerated for a long time before fermenting under controlled temperature. Each variety was separately vinified.
After that, Perelada Finca Malaveïna 2020 was drawn off and aged for 22 months in new French oak barrels from Allier. Finally, the wine was aged for some months in the bottle before its commercial release.
Decant this Crianza red wine from L'Empordà at least half an hour before you drink it.
Appearance | The red wine Finca Malaveïna is deep ruby with a purple rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Prominent notes or red and black fruit, sweet spices, vanilla, clove and cocoa. As this of blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc opens, there appear remembrances of Mediterranean herbs, balsam, green bell peppers and dry earth. |
Palate | Bold and palate-coating, but never overpowering. This red wine of Castillo Perelada has a crisp acidity, excellent balance and mild tannins. Menthol, wild berries, aromatic herbs and some earthy notions over a smokey-mineral background. Long, elegant finish. |
Our personal opinion | As always, Perelada Finca Malaveïna 2020 exudes plenty of class and elegance |
