Produced by L'Olivera Cooperativa, the wine Vinyes de Barcelona is currently the only Spanish red wine made from vineyards situated within the boundaries of Barcelona.
The grapes are sourced from organically farmed vines located in Can Calopa de Dalt, a estate at 300 metres of altitud in Serra de Collserola, the mountain range between the Besòs and Llobregat rivers that surround the city.
A blend of 27% Syrah, 53% Grenache and 20% Samsó, the grapes were hand-harvested and each variety was separately vinified. Destemmed and gently crushed, they were fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. During the process, the Syrah must was drawn-off on a daily basis, and the Grenache solid cap was punched down the must twice a day. After that, the Syrah batch was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Finally, the wine Vinyes de Barcelona 2021 was bottled and aged for a further months before being released.
4,500 bottles produced. This is a vegan certified wine.
