Batllori

A traditional Cava producer from Alt Penedés.

Located in a modernista (art nouveau) building near the village of Subirats, Alt Penedès, the Cava producer Bodega Batllori was founded in the mid-twentieth century. The winery was named Olivé Batllori until the year 2020, when it adopted its current name in homage to the family grandmother.

Interestingly, the Batllori estate is located near Els Casots, a paleontological site, an Iberian settlement dating from II BCE and the Subirats Castle, built in the Xth century. The estate covers an area of 100 hectares, 20 of which are under vine.

The vineyards of Batllori winery are mostly planted with the traditional varieties of DO Cava: Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. As regards red varieties, the winery grows Grenache, Syrah and Pinot Noir. The vines are tended following the guidelines of organic farming.

The wine catalogue of Batllori winery is mainly comprised of DO Cava sparkling wines made from traditional varieties. The Batllori winery also makes several still wines from Mediterranean varieties.
