Celler Pascona

Celler Pascona

Family boutique winery in the DO Montsant.

Founded in 1991 by Antoni Ripoll, the name of bodega Celler Pascona is an homage to Mari Pau
Gombau Pascó and Guadalupe Gombau Pascó, the daughters of Pere Pascó, a Falset-born physician that
bought the tract of land where the Pascona winery is currently situated in the XIXth century. Since 2006,
the company is run by Toni Ripoll, the son of the founder and Assumpta Rull, who inherited the estate
from the two sisters, who were nicknamed 'les Pascones'.

Located in Vall dels Fontanals area near the village of Falset, in the DO Montsant, bodega Celler Pascona owns around 20 hectares of vineyards with clay, granite, llicorella (slate) and river pebbles. East-oriented, the vines are freshened by the Mediterrranean sea breeze during the long and hot summer days. As regards grapes varieties, the estate vineyards of bodega Celler Pascona are mostly planted with Grenache and Carignan, the traditional red varieties, which coexist with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

The wine catalogue of Celler Pascona is mainly comprised of red wines, from young unwooded reds like
Maria Ganxa and Lo Petitó, to profound expressions of the Montsant terroir, like Lo Pare, aged for 16
months in oak barrels, and refined varietal wines such as La Mare, a Grenache wine aged for 9 months in
oak. A terroir-bound project, the wines by Bodega Celler Pascona are noteworthy for its local character
and limited production, offering outstanding quality for money.
