Pagos de Anguix

Pagos de Anguix

The wine project of the Juvé family in Ribera del Duero.

Located in the village of Anguix, Burgos, in the northern part of DO Ribera del Duero, bodega Pago de Anguix is owned by the prestigious Juvé y Camps winery from Penedès, a company whose branches are gathered under the name J&C Prime Brands.

Founded in 1920 and currently run by Mr. Joan Juvé Santacana, the Juvé y Camps winery started to expand into other Spanish wine regions in the late XXth century. After a long search, Bodega Pago de Anguix was founded in 2000 in the northern area of DO Ribera del Duero. Like the mother company, the new winery was built upon three pillars: environmental sustainability, a commitment to quality and respect for terroir.

Bodega Pago de Anguix currently farms 77 hectares of vineyards, 35 of which are certified organic. These were formerly owned by bodega Campos Góticos, who pioneered the use of organic farming techniques in the region. Planted with Tinto Fino or Tempranillo vines aged 20 to 40 years, the vineyards are at 850 metres of altitude above sea level.

According to Mr. Pedro Elena, the wines from bodega Pago de Anguix are fruit-driven, crisp and age- worthy, with nicely integrated wood that lets the terroir express itself.
