Ramon Canals

The Ramon Canals winery was founded by Miquel Canals Ollé in the village of Castellví de Rosanes,
DO Penedès. Nowadays, the company is run by the third generation of the family. Mr. Ramon Canals is
the head winemaker, and his sister Marta Canals is the general manager. The company has its headquarters in a typical Catalan Masia -a manor house- built in 1903.

During its first decades, the company produced only wine in bulk, which was sold on the premises. In
1975, the Canals Canals winery, as it was then known, began the production of bottled wine, mostly
traditional Cavas and still wines made from international varieties.

Nowadays, the winery produces the Cavas Ramon Canals and Canals Canals. Both are expressions of the
Penedès tradition with a modern twist.

In 2002, Ramon Canals founded Caves Duran as an homage to Mercè Duran, his maternal grandmother
and also a skillful wine grower. The portfolio of Caves Duran winery comprises a series of small-production Cavas made from unconventional blends and aged for over 30 months.

Soon afterwards, Ramon Canals launched the Marta product line, a collection of attractively packaged
and easy-to-drink wines named after Marta Canals.

In 2010, Ramon Canals began to produce terroir-bound, limited-edition wines in the Montsant and
Priorat regions.

A few years ago, the winery Ramon Canals also started to craft organic and vegan wines.

It is worth mentioning that on the premises of Celler Canals there is a museum dedicated to the history
and production of wine and cava, called “Museu del Vi i del Cava Ramon Canals.” The museum has a
library containing over 500 books about winemaking and viticulture.
