Details

The remarkable Alvear Pedro Ximénez de Sacristía from Bodegas Alvear is a vintage Spanish sweet wine made from Pedro Ximénez.

This wine has been being produced since 1998. No other winery in the world has produced a vertical series of Pedro Ximénez vintage wines.

The grapes come from the best vineyards of DO Montilla-Moriles, which after a meticulous vinification are aged in the legendary "Sacristía", the sanctum sanctorum of Bodegas Alvear.

In this case, the sweet wine Alvear Pedro Ximénez de Sacristía 2004 was statically aged for a minimum of 15 years in American oak barrels.

This amazing sweet wine from Montilla-Moriles is a great after dinner sip.

Alternatively, you can pair it wit a good book or a nice cigar.

Appearance

The sweet wine Alvear Pedro Ximénez de Sacristía is deep mahogany with some brownish reflections.

Nose

Some serious aromatic complexity going on here. This varietal Pedro Ximénez exhibits rich aromas of plum preserve, burnt sugar and exotic spices, with deep balsamic aromas and hints of toasted cereal, candied citrus peel and fine wood.

Palate

Powerful, textured and rounded by the years, this wine of bodega Alvear shows impressive complexity, with liquorice, chocolate, coffee, dates and Havanna cigars, ending with a herbal, spicy and mineral note.

Our personal opinion

Balanced and deep, Alvear Pedro Ximénez de Sacristía 2004 is a majestic sweet white wine.
